The retention stage of your treatment begins when we remove your braces and retainers are placed.

Congratulations!

We did it together. Look in the mirror at your straight teeth, super smile and improved bite. We can all be proud of the result.

Why do I need to wear retainers?

Your teeth will want to go back towards their original position. In order to maintain the excellent quality of your treatment, it will be necessary for you to wear your retainers while sleeping indefinitely.

What kind of retainers will I need to wear?

Most patients wear a clear or invisible type of retainer at night when they sleep. Dr. Alborzi will let you know if you need a different type of retainer or if you need to wear your retainer more than just when you sleep.

How long will Dr. Alborzi continue to see me once my braces have been removed?

Like you, we are proud of the aesthetic and the functional improvement to your smile and to your bite. We remain committed to help you maintain that correction. We will monitor your retention for approximately two years after your braces are removed.

How long will I have to continue to wear retainers?

We recommend that you continue to wear your retainers indefinitely. Wear your retainers as many hours per day as it takes to keep your retainers fitting well and your teeth from shifting. If they are tight each time you put them in, you may need to wear them more than just at night when you sleep.

How do I keep my retainers clean?

Clear retainers are best cleaned by soaking them in hydrogen peroxide or denture cleaning tablets when you are not wearing them. You can place them in your retainer case or in a glass to soak them. You can also brush your retainers with toothpaste to keep them fresh.

REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR RETAINERS WITH YOU TO ALL YOUR APPOINTMENTS!
