Adolescents have more choices then ever when it comes to getting a beautiful smile. A great looking smile is something that can build confidence and self esteem at any age.

If your teenager hasn’t seen an orthodontist yet then the best time to bring them in for an evaluation is now. We can always wait to start treatment if they are not ready, but if we see something that should be addressed sooner, we can get started right away in order to utilize growth and time to help us correct any crowding or underlying skeletal problems that may exist.

Comprehensive Adolescent Treatment:
If Phase I (Early Interceptive) orthodontic treatment wasn’t needed for your son or daughter, then braces will most likely start when most or all of the permanent (adult) teeth have erupted. The remaining permanent teeth usually erupt sometime between the ages of 11 and 13, though it can be earlier or later….Leave it to teenagers to be unpredictable.

The most common treatment appliance options we offer adolescents are the Damon Bracket System and Invisalign “invisible” appliances. For more information on these appliances options, please click on the Invisalign and Damon System links to the left. Some adolescents may also require the use of orthopedic appliances, such as a Herbst or Mara appliance, to help correct skeletal problems.

One of our goals at Alborzi Orthodontics is to avoid the extraction of permanent teeth, even in crowded adolescent cases. We have found that the Damon System we use can help us gain the space we need to treat your child without extracting permanent teeth and to provide them with a beautiful, balanced smile that will not only be dazzling at age 16, but also at age 50 and 60!
